Employment
Glittertind assists businesses and individuals with advice on employment law.
Employees are a company's most important resource, but they can be challenging to manage. Employees' expectations of today's working life place demands on agreements and routines that create predictability, equal treatment, and well-being, as well as incentives to perform. Personnel management is a dynamic task that requires employers and HR functions to stay up to date on current regulations and put good intentions into practice. During the course of the employment relationship, challenges may arise for individuals in relation to underperformance or disloyalty. In all situations involving changes in individual employment relationships, employers must comply with strict legal frameworks. These frameworks impose requirements on processes and case handling, particularly when the company is considering dismissals.
Several of our lawyers have worked in-house and therefore have first-hand knowledge of the commercial needs a business faces when employees are involved. The goal of our advice is to achieve good solutions for everyone involved, where success is measured by the absence of disputes.
Jon Wessel-Aas has particular expertise in freedom of expression in the workplace, including the relationship between employees' freedom of expression and their duty of loyalty in employment relationships. Among other things, he has represented several employees in complaints cases on this issue before the Civil Ombudsman, which decides most such cases for public employees.
